Downtown Seattle Engagement Photos
Snuggle sesh on the rooftop? Adam and Morgan were down!
These two lovebirds had their hearts set on an eclectic Vegas wedding at the Neon Museum (can you imagine the photos and light play??). However, in light of all things COVID, they are pivoting to a hometown Seattle wedding to cut out travel and make sure guests are safe. With an updated wedding venue in the middle of the city, this couple wanted an urban engagement session in downtown Seattle to match their new venue vibes.
We started their photoshoot at a parking garage rooftop in downtown Seattle to capture that cosmopolitan feel and these two knocked it out of the park. Their connection brought all the warmth to the hardscape and truly filled each frame with their love for each other! I had a blast with Morgan and Adam during their engagement session and we had fun just getting to know each other—mostly talking about Bugsy, their playful little pug.
Perks of an Urban Engagement Session
There are a ton of perks to shooting urban cityscapes and doing a cool downtown engagement session. The first reason being that it was the right setting for Adam and Morgan’s personalities! Outdoorsy, nature engagement shoots are very trendy right now but if that’s not your vibe, then don’t take the bait! These two stayed true to who they are and Morgan shared, “I loved getting to do our photos in the city because it’s very us.”
Picking a location that represents you as a couple will keep making sense after the trends expire and will forever hold memories of who you are in these moments. Much better than pretending you like hiking when you don’t (raises hand)!
Now speaking from a photography standpoint, urban settings offer interesting lines, skyline backdrops, building-textures, and architecture to work with and create unique compositions of you and your partner (and pet).
After shooting the downtown Seattle skyline from the garage rooftop, Morgan, Adam, and I went to the Georgetown neighborhood to walk around all the fun businesses. We played around with brick wall textures, arched architecture, and I even got to bring in some neon lighting into their portraits as a nod to their neon wedding dreams.
Wind Down in Beer Town
We ended the session at Great Notion Brewery and I was happy to introduce Adam (a fellow beer lover) to my favorite brewery! Morgan had the sweetest thoughts to share from our time together, “Our engagement session was SO MUCH FUN. We had so much fun with you and felt like we were all friends. Posing wasn’t awkward at all and felt natural. We were so excited to bring Bugsy with us and you were so great working with him. The urban locations were so perfect. I was so impressed with the places you picked.” My heart!!
